University of Illinois Sonia Math Day for Teen Girls

From Amelia Tebbe – tebbe2@illinois.edu:
I would like to announce the first annual Sonia Math Day for Girls, which will be held at UIUC on Saturday, May 18th. This event is a mathematics day for high school age students and our goal is to encourage girls to pursue mathematics.
This event is for girls, 13 and over, who have completed or are currently taking Algebra I or above. Please pass this on to any students in the Champaign-Urbana area who might be interested. Parents and teachers are also welcome to attend with their students.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Mathematics at UIUC, the National Science Foundation, and the Illinois Geometry Lab.  It is organized by the Association for Women in Mathematics at UIUC.  It is scheduled for Saturday May 18th from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm and the theme for this year is, “To Catch a Thief in Königsberg.”  You can find the schedule for the day at <www.math.uiuc.edu/~delcour2/sonia>.  Students must register for the event by Sunday April 21st and can do so by visiting this website.
This event is FREE!  There will be free t-shirts, free lunch, and lots of fun!  The Sonia Math Day for Girls is an event comprised of fun hands-on workshops, an interesting keynote address, and an informative panel discussion for high school girls.
