In particular for the Republicans, as even worse,  the IL GOP party says this below in their unsteady walk on their platform:

ARTICLE I
OUR PARTY’S PHILOSOPHY

The cornerstone of our democracy is: Equality, Freedom, Opportunity, Less Government, Low Taxes and Strong National Security. The Republican Party is unwavering in its commitment to these principles. We honor the Constitution and believe that neither the Executive, Legislative nor Judicial branches of government should detract from the rights enumerated therein.

THE INDIVIDUAL

Our government is of limited power subject to the inalienable rights of each individual.

Mr. A. Lincoln bears no resemblance to the current folks behind the curtain with the elephant in the room.  And with a grin and a typical ouch in the quote below, one of my favorite guys, Samuel Clemons says

I don’t mind what the opposition say of me so long as they don’t tell  the truth about me.
Mark Twain in a Republican Rally speech

Republicans unanimously pass bills such as SB-15 through their committees.   SB-15 being based around the mandated screening of ALL pregnant and new moms by obstetricians and pediatricians.  Senator Bill Brady’s staff member told me this morning that it would only involve a form to be filled out.  The form is the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale: 10 questions that were developed in 1987 by Cox, Holden, and Sagovsky.

Pediatricians oppose the bill.  The Dept. of Human Services opposed it, the last I understood.  But the Republicans voted a bill through their committee even though: "There is a lot of opposition to it ";  as noted by Senator Brady’s aide.

That’s the difference between governments and individuals.  Governments don’t care, individuals do.
A Tramp Abroad-Mark Twain

Here’s another one from Mr. Clemons:

The radical of one century is the conservative of the next.  The radical invents the views; when he has worn them out the conservative adopts them.  From Samuel Clemon’s Notebook

And amen to that.
